The North Face Base Camp Voyager Duffel 42L – Granite Grey/Frost Grey
The North Face Base Camp Voyager Duffel 42L is a versatile travel bag designed for weekends away, short breaks and trips where you need useful extra packing space without moving up to a larger expedition-style duffel. Inspired by The North Face’s iconic Base Camp range, the Voyager uses a lighter, more streamlined construction while adding practical organisation for modern travel.
With 42 litres of capacity, there is plenty of room for clothing, footwear and travel essentials, while an internal mesh divider helps keep everything organised. Adjustable padded shoulder straps allow the bag to be carried backpack-style when you want your hands free, and durable recycled fabrics with a water-repellent finish help protect the contents from everyday knocks and light rain. Finished in Granite Grey with Frost Grey detailing, it has a clean, understated look that works equally well for holidays, weekends away, commuting and regular travel.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 42L Base Camp Voyager Duffel best suited to?
The 42-litre size is well suited to weekends away, short breaks and trips where you want more packing room than the 32L Voyager provides. It offers useful space for clothing, footwear and other travel essentials while remaining easier to manage than a much larger expedition-style duffel.
Can the Base Camp Voyager 42L be used as cabin luggage?
Cabin baggage allowances vary between airlines and ticket types, so the 42L Voyager should not be assumed to qualify automatically. Check the bag’s dimensions against your airline’s current cabin baggage limits before travelling.
Can the Base Camp Voyager Duffel 42L be carried as a backpack?
Yes. Adjustable padded shoulder straps allow the bag to be carried backpack-style for hands-free travel, while grab handles provide the option of carrying it like a traditional duffel.
Does the 42L Voyager have a laptop compartment?
Yes. It includes dedicated laptop storage suitable for devices up to 15 inches, making the bag useful for work trips and commuting as well as leisure travel.
Is The North Face Base Camp Voyager 42L waterproof?
No. The durable laminated fabrics and water-repellent finish provide useful protection from light rain and everyday moisture, but the bag is not fully waterproof and should not be submerged or relied upon to keep contents completely dry during prolonged heavy exposure.
What is the difference between the 32L and 42L Base Camp Voyager Duffels?
The main difference is capacity. The 32L is the more compact option for overnight stays, commuting and lighter packing, while the 42L provides additional space for longer weekends and trips where extra clothing or footwear is required.
What is the difference between the Base Camp Voyager and the traditional Base Camp Duffel?
The Voyager is designed as a lighter, more streamlined alternative with additional internal organisation and travel-focused storage. The traditional Base Camp Duffel has a more expedition-oriented design and is available in a wider range of larger capacities. Our Base Camp Duffel guide explains the range in more detail.
