The standard Liddesdale has a straight, traditional body with extra room through the chest, waist and lower section. It is the more forgiving choice for broader builds, customers who dislike restrictive outerwear and anyone who expects to add substantial layers.

Sizing advice: choose your normal size when you want room for knitwear or a gilet. Consider one size smaller when you will mainly wear the jacket over a shirt or lightweight jumper and prefer a neater appearance.

Barbour Heritage Liddesdale

The Heritage Liddesdale is cut closer through the chest and waist and finishes higher on the body. It is particularly well suited to slimmer builds and customers who find the standard jacket too full.

Sizing advice: choose your normal size for the intended close fit. Consider one size larger if you are between sizes, have a broader chest or want to wear thicker knitwear underneath.

Sizing down in the standard Liddesdale does not turn it into a Heritage Liddesdale: it remains straighter and longer. Likewise, sizing up in the Heritage version adds room without changing its shorter, more shaped proportions.

How do the garment measurements compare?

These are jacket measurements rather than recommended body measurements. Lay a similar jacket that fits you well on a flat surface and compare it with the table before choosing a size.

The chest width is measured from armpit to armpit with the jacket laid flat. Doubling it gives an approximate measurement around the garment.

Size Medium provides a useful example: the standard Liddesdale is 5cm wider across the chest and 6cm longer through the back. That is approximately 10cm more room around the body before allowing for the jacket’s thickness.

Both jackets use Barbour’s signature diamond-quilted design with a 100% polyamide outer and lining, 100% polyester filling and a cotton corduroy collar trim. They share a stud-fastening front, two lower patch pockets and a zipped internal security pocket.

Their lightweight insulation is most useful in cool spring and autumn weather and on mild winter days. The standard jacket can adapt more easily to colder conditions because it leaves greater space for insulating layers; the Heritage jacket offers similar basic warmth but less room underneath.
